Miracle Morning

I've been listening to Dr. Karen Osborn's Women Wanting More podcast for awhile now. As a warning, if you decide to listen her, she has a potty mouth, but that makes me like her all the more. She is a firm believer in no BS, and that means she takes herself to task  as well. Karen talks a lot about her "More Four" that she does everyday and I have been trying them as well. She does the following everyday.

  1. Body (green smoothie, workout)
  2. Being (journal, meditation)
  3. Balance (text to your spouse, quality time with your kids)
  4. Business (study then teach)

So, I've been drinking my green smoothie's most mornings (Spinach, banana, chia seeds, milk, protein powder and sometimes a few blueberries). I've been lifting weights and riding the bike in our bedroom. I've been reading and listening to, what most people would call "Self Help" books. I've been journaling and of course going to work everyday and taking care of my family. I have made a lot of excuses, for many years, as to why I couldn't take better care of myself. I'm on a mission to kick the SHIT out of my excuses. I also need to do a better job of hiring baby sitters and making time for just Pedar and I. The guilt (excuse) of being at work all day and feeling like we shouldn't leave kids at night or on weekends has turned into a bad habit. We need to make time for our relationship. This is a BIG priority for us this new year. We need to be able to sit across from one another at dinner and not feel awkward because we are so rarely alone.

This new job helped me get started on taking better care of me. I was able to cut free from a lot of stress and unresolved issues and everyday has been better since. I also saw a picture of myself this September and I REALLY didn't like it. For months, I wasn't liking any pictures of me. I looked tired, bloated and out of shape. I had lost my zip.

I'm on a mission to get ME back. I don't want to feel just OK, I want to be really excited about my health, and my life. I don't want to just exist.  I am the only one that can do it. I ask myself everyday, "Am I going to control my day today or am I going to let my day control me?"

I've also just started listening to Hal Elrod's podcast. He is the best selling writer behind The Miracle Morning.

The Miracle Morning is about finding the time to make the best out of your life and to live to your true potential. The author has an amazing personal story that he shares in the first few chapters that led him to developing the concept of “The Miracle Morning” (TMM). He explains how most people have settled on living a life of mediocrity and never reaching their true potential. He continues to state that it all starts with how you wake up in the morning and that there are six simple steps you can take each day to enable you to create success in EVERY area of your life. The six powerful practice steps, each discussed in a separate chapter, are called Life S.A.V.E.R.S:

S – Silence (prayer and/or meditation time)
A – Affirmations
V- Visualization
E- Exercise
R- Reading
S- Scribing or Writing
"Who you’re becoming is far more important than what you’re doing, and yet it is what you’re doing that is determining who you’re becoming, " Hal Elrod.

Maybe take a moment and listen to one of these podcasts to hear what I'm talking about. Go get it. Make it happen.
