Wrong again
I make a lot of mistakes. I like to try new things and sometimes they don't work out. I signed Erik up for a children's theatre camp. It was going to be three hours a day, for 4 days a week for about 6 weeks. At the end, he would be in three performances. Erik has shown a huge interest in singing and dancing, and I just wanted to support that. We showed up on Monday at the theatre. There were only three boys and he was the youngest. I stayed for awhile and then had to get to work. Our babysitter and Casey picked him up at Noon. My gut said it wasn't going to be as great as I hoped. The Director repeated herself several times about how much WORK and homework they were going to have, etc. She didn't sell them much on FUN. I didn't hear anything about games or good times.
Erik didn't like it at all. I heard he was almost in tears when they picked him up. I called him on my way home from work and he said, "I don't like it Mom. We didn't have fun or play games. There wasn't even time to make friends. They even rushed us through our snack time."
So, nope on the theatre camp for Erik. I was trying to give the kids some space from one another for a bit this Summer. But I guess fighting with your sibling is part of the experience. What was I thinking taking that away from them?! I have such fond memories of my sisters and I almost killing one another while my parents were at work.
Summer isn't all fireflies and magical trips, it is a little bit about countless hours trying to find something to do and missing your friends and a routine a bit. Yep. Let's just keep it real.
